Alp Arslan

Pictured is the helmet of Alp Arslan, based loosely on its appearance in the show bearing his name.

Alp Arslan was the second Sultan of the Seljuk Empire and ruled from 1063 to 1072. He was a skilled military commander who led the Seljuks to many victories, including the Battle of Manzikert in 1071, where his army defeated the Byzantine forces and opened up Anatolia for Turkish settlement.

He was also known for his tolerance and fair treatment of his subjects, regardless of their religion or ethnicity, implementing a system of meritocracy where individuals were appointed to positions based on their abilities rather than their social status. Alp Arslan's reign marked a period of prosperity and expansion for the Seljuk Empire, and his legacy continues to inspire leaders to this day.
